Check Out This New Trailer for Half-Life Alyx: Levitation

It’s hard to believe Valve will ever release Half-Life 3. That does not mean people have to go without Half-Life content, though, as the dynamic duo of Corey Laddo(Opens in a new window) and Shawn Snelling(Opens in a new window) plan to prove with the release of a mod called Half-Life Alyx: Levitation sometime this year.

The duo announced Levitation, which is supposed to add roughly 50% more content to the virtual reality installation of the Half-Life series that Valve released in 2020, in April. Now they’ve shown off some gameplay footage as part of this year’s installment of the PC Gaming Show.

The footage, which was captured by “EchoSmoker(Opens in a new window)“purportedly depicts” 7 minutes of smooth uncut gameplay footage from one of LEVITATION’s chapters: Dig Deep. “That appears to be an apt description — the gameplay would look fantastic even if it were developed by a larger team.

It’s not an entirely two-person effort. Laddo told(Opens in a new window) PCGamer “there’s not a ton of [documentation] out there for Source 2, unlike Source, so we have been getting some very much appreciated help from talented modders within the Source 2 community in regards to troubleshooting. “

All of that work will culminate in a free-to-play mod to Half-Life: Alyx that should hit the Steam Workshop in the third quarter of this year, Laddo says, with the expectation being that “the average player” will enjoy an additional 4-5 hours of content for the roughly 12-hour-long game.
