Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G9 Refresh is a 57-Inch Gaming Monitor Supports ‘8K Gaming’

If you thought Samsung’s 55-inch Odyssey Ark was not big enough (nor wide enough), the company announced a new ultrawide monitor that’s 57 inches and supports 8K resolution as part of its CES 2023 announcements.

A model refresh of the Odyssey Neo G9 released last year, the latest iteration of the monitor was initially teased by Samsung back in November. It features a resolution of 7,680×2,160, a refresh rate of 240Hz (much higher than the Odyssey Ark, which was 165Hz), a 32:9 aspect ratio, and a 1000R curve 57-inch screen. Samsung notes that the screen uses quantum mini-LED technology and touts the display as the first to support DisplayPort 2.1.

In our review of the previous Odyssey Neo G9, which we gave a 7 out of 10, we noted that it was “the best super-ultrawide monitor ever made” while praising its HDR and motion clarity. But its biggest drawback was the imperfect execution of the mini-LED backlight, which caused some issues with image quality.

Samsung still has yet to share more details on the 2023 Odyssey Neo G9 monitor. Such as what other ports will be on the monitor (eg, HDMI 2.1), how much the monitor will cost, and when it will release this year.
