Serbia’s mobile phone subscribers edge down 0.9% y/y in H1’22

BELGRADE (Serbia), September 22 (SeeNews) – The number of mobile subscribers in Serbia edged down by 0.94% on the year to 8.422 million at the end of the first half of 2022, according to data of the country’s telecommunications regulator.

However, in the last quarter of the year alone, the number of mobile phone subscribers grew slightly, as at the end of March it stood at 8.369 million, figures posted on the website of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Ratel) showed.

Serbia, with a population of around 7 million, has three operators active in the mobile segment – Telekom Srbija, A1 Srbija, previously known as Vip Mobile, and Yettel, formerly known as Telenor.

Telekom Srbija had a 42.9% share of the overall number of subscribers at the end of June, followed by Yettel with 31.7% and A1 with 24.5%.

Serbia’s media content subscribers numbered 2.12 million at the end of June, down from 2.14 million in June 2021.

The leading platform for distribution of radio and TV programs to end-users in Serbia was digital CATV, with a market share of 50.3%, followed by IPTV and DTH with 27.7% and 16.3%, respectively. Analogue CATV had a market share of 3.4%.

A total of 43.0% of the fixed broadband Internet access subscribers used cable connection, followed by xDSL and FTTx connections with 28.5% and 22.9%, respectively.
