September 20, 2022

PUYALLUP – A motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries after being involved in a hit and run collision in Puyallup earlier this month. Washington State Patrol (WSP) detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to help identify the fleeing vehicle and driver.

The motorcycle rider, a 57-year-old Puyallup man, was traveling northbound on State Route 161 near 128th Street East at approximately 5:55 pm on Friday, September 9, 2022. An unknown pickup truck traveling southbound on State Route 161 allegedly made a left turn, crossed the double-yellow line, and cut in front of the motorcycle. In an attempt to avoid colliding with the pickup truck, the motorcycle rider swerved and ultimately slid to the ground. The pickup truck driver failed to stop and continued traveling in an unknown direction, leaving the motorcycle rider behind with serious injuries.

Witnesses were unable to provide investigators with the pickup truck’s color, make, and model or a description of its occupants.

WSP Detectives request assistance to locate the suspect and vehicle. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Tessa Schahfer at (253) 538-3172.
