The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) summer cooling bill program has begun taking applications.
This program helps low-income individuals and families pay cooling costs during the peak months of the summer.
Magnolians that need assistance can visit the Central Arkansas Development Council on 1503 North Vine street.
Applications are available from 8 am to 12 pm Monday through Wednesday.
The program began July 25 and will end on Sept. 30 or while funds last.
“LIHEAP provides individuals and families with short-term fuel assistance. Persons receiving LIHEAP are connected to family development resources, which provides a link to long-term resources to help families become self-reliant.”
LIHEAP has other programs like emergency utility assistance to help get your power or gas turned back on if it has been shutoff, The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) which helps pay water bills and get service turned back on and the weatherization program which can test your home for insulation issues and help seal and insulate the house.
