Cincinnati transfer wide receiver Will Pauling commits to Wisconsin

A wild Tuesday on the recruiting trail comes to a close as Luke Fickell and Wisconsin picked up their third addition from the transfer portal on the day. Closing out a huge 24-hour period and last five days overall, Cincinnati wide receiver transfer Will Pauling announced his commitment to the Badgers.

A redshirt freshman, Pauling caught 12 passes for 122 yards last season on 23 targets. Per Pro Football Focus, Pauling had just one drop and was credited with five contested catches. Pauling also played in four games as a true freshman in 2021, recording one reception for six yards.

Pauling is the third transfer addition to follow Fickell to Madison from the Bearcats, joining offensive lineman Joe Huber and center Jake Renfro. He’s also the 10th addition for the Badgers from the transfer portal overall along with defensive back Jason Maitre (Boston College), quarterback Nick Evers (Oklahoma), quarterback Braedyn Locke (Mississippi State), edge rusher Jeff Pietrowski (Michigan State), quarterback Tanner Mordecai (SMU), kicker Nathaniel Vakos (Ohio), and defensive end Darian Warner (Temples).

Pauling joins an experienced and talented wide receiver room at UW. The Badgers return all seven scholarship wide receivers, including juniors Chimera Dike, who led the team with 689 yards and six touchdowns on 47 receptions. Redshirt freshman Skyler Bell (30 rec., 445 yards, 5 TD’s) and sophomore Keontez Lewis (20 rec., 313 yards, 3 TD’s) had breakout seasons with the Badgers as well.

A former three-star recruit, Pauling chose UC over Syracuse and a host of MAC offers coming out of Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Illinois. Pauling entered the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 20. He also was pursued by Illinois, Indiana, and others.

Pauling will have three years of eligibility remaining.
