Granite City woman charged with taking vintage toys and comic books.

EDWARDSVILLE — A Granite City woman was charged with 15 felonies by Madison County officials on Wednesday.

Michelle L. Coleman, 49, of Granite City, was charged with one count of burglary, a Class 2 felony, one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony, four counts of theft over $500, a Class 3 felony, and nine counts of theft under $500, a Class 3 felony.

The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff.

According to court documents, on Nov. 15, Coleman allegedly entered a storage unit on West Chain of Rocks Road with intent to commit a theft. Coleman also took a Galaga arcade system from another person.

On Oct. 11, Coleman allegedly took an LTD guitar, a guitar case and an Ibanez four-string base guitar from another person.

Wed Nov. 21, Coleman allegedly took a ComicCon Exclusive Shadow Trooper large figure and a large amount of Marvel, DC and other vintage toys from another person. Coleman also allegedly took a dirt bike, clothing, purses and Christmas decorations from another person. Coleman was in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine.

The nine counts of theft under $500 also all occurred on Nov. 21.

Across the nine counts, Coleman allegedly took household items and clothing from another person; a Cricut machine, vinyl materials, diapers, baby clothing, a desk and chair from another person; a jewelry box, two end tables and a dolly cart from another person; a coffee table, two end tables, a box of DVDs, Christmas decor and wrapping paper from another person; a Black and Decker tiller, an HP computer and monitor, and miscellaneous kitchen items from another person; a large amount of Xbox video games and a Furby from another person; miscellaneous Christmas decor from another person; cooking pots and a vintage pool cue from another person; and a large amount of comic books, DC action figures, and records from another person.

Coleman was previously convicted of retail theft in 2019.

Bail was set at $150,000.
