Dolly Parton visiting Columbus to celebrate book program

Dolly Parton is making a stop in Columbus next week — but this time it’s not for a concert.

The country star will visit the Ohio Union Tuesday for a private luncheon hosted by first lady Fran DeWine and the First Lady’s Charitable Foundation to raise financial support and awareness for the Imagination Library program in Ohio, according to a news release.

‘It’s better to give than to receive’: Dolly Parton discusses the book program’s legacy

Created by the singer in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a program that mails free books to children from birth to age 5. The program originally started in Sevier County, Tennessee, where Parton grew up, but expanded nationwide in 2000. Imagination Library has since launched in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland.
